The core tension is this: Should we sacrifice some economic growth and innovation to redistribute wealth and protect democratic equality, or should we accept rising inequality and billionaire influence to preserve capital formation and prosperity? The forced tradeoff is clear: Either economic growth and innovation are sacrificed by implementing substantial wealth taxes, or wealth redistribution and democratic equality are sacrificed by not taxing billionaires heavily.
